Slowly does it with the linings, and the fire has been a constant each night and all weekends. Dad is bringing heaps of wood home each night, and last night a whole trailer load came home behind the 'cruiser.
Yesterday the new cedar doors got fitted between the Smoke / Dining Room and Lounge... just awaiting the bevelled glass to go in them.
Last week I went to view the progress on the Leadlight window. It should be all finished now, and will go in this next week. Hard to tell from these photos, but Pauline is using some fancy floral and other glass with double cut crystals in the corners which look stunning against the light..
My roofing man (with gloves on) got some of the copper gutters up yesterday and more today. Looking good for the magpies :) They're a length and couple of brackets short, so next week before they're finished. Some of the downpipes will wait until the old part is re-clad with weatherboard, as they have to solder all the joins. Very precise and slow work.
Now just have to find some kiwi ingenuity to work out how to hang the very front 'downpipes' using these glass insulators on a chain of some sort. Always thought downpipes need to be something to look at or not seen at all!
Isaac visited me at work one afternoon and did a bit of multi-tasking, reading about the cookie monster while being one.. and then talking on the phone at the same time as eating and reading. Think he's related to Aunty Blondie ?
This new place of Grandad and Nans is a very interesting maze for Isaac to run around and get all dusty. Peeking through framing not yet gibbed .. running along planks and skipping off the end.. bouncing his ball around, and he knows how to 'knock knock' on the door if its closed and somebody on the other side! Mum & Dad were getting ready for a spa.

Reno #16 & Odds & Sods...
Seeing nobody else has time to update.. thought I could add a couple more photos. With it being a fine day on Friday the boys got the front portico framed up.
Dad has been enjoying his fire, and it hasn't gone unlit any night since... Saturday night we started a stew and this morning added all the vegetables, and it was nice to have a home cooked meal for a change. Saturday was a bleak and overcast day and the fire didn't stop all day. Dried the washing around it.
Tonight he's just staring at the flames with his cuppa..
Our tapware is awaiting the new kitchen - here's a glimpse :) And Mr Blue awaiting the temporary back door to open.
Dad could fit right in to Grandads new residence.. in fact he looks more tired that the retired !
And wee Isaac is just as cheeky as ever.. haven't any really good photos just lately, but he's growing cleverer by the week. Here he is 'tic toc - ing' he learnt at pre-school.. putting a sticker on Grandads fingernail and pretty fascinated with new technology :)

Reno #15
Must be time to try and update this... hasn't been a lot of 'down time' lately and hoping to not be too late to bed tonight. We're nice and cosy with lovely thick batts all around, and the boys have lined half the ceilings.
And last night Dad was able to light the fire for the very first time. Pauline & Eric brought a curry in for tea before the study, and helped us enjoy the first feeling of warmth.
Yesterday Dave and I got to see the Kitchen 'in the flesh' prior to it going for painting, and to make sure all the details were as I imagined...only thing I'm changing is the open shelves above the drinks bench. They will now be glass, which will give more space for mugs, jugs & glasses, and set back to only 150mm depth.
Knobs will go on the cupboard doors, and handles on drawers. Today, it was out with the old hot water cylinder and in with the new german model.
And today the new exterior doors have been delivered ready for some oiling before fitting, and the beams going up at the front entrance ready for a gable roof soon. Just doing the outside things as we get some dry weather!
Just awaiting some quotes on some natty tile work for the front deck and a bit plainer on the front steps and back deck with a few inserts.

New Digs ...
Yesterday we had a lovely lunch with Grandad at Kihilla Road. Vicki made fresh snapper on Risotto with asparagus, pumpkin & brussel sprouts. It was lovely.
Stuart planted a new red carpet rose at the gate, and Grandad walked up (with some help) to see it prior to us leaving.
Then at 10.30am this morning we arrive at Wensley House, and Grandad was really happy to be there, told them he was looking forward to it, and anybody that listened he said they had a really nice place, and tonight, getting into bed said "I have no complaints"... so wonderful to hear all that, made a horrible job much easier! Within half an hour of being there, he took part in their fitness exercises... not sure how co-ordinated he was, but was a good way to meet everybody at once, then by the time he saw where all his clothes were, it was time for lunch..
